Reception theory: Dominant reading: The dominant reading of this cover of lil pump's new song "gucci gang" is that it makes the audience envy lil pump and look up to him because he wears designer clothes and earns lots of money and it is used to promote himself and make him stand out from others. Negotiated reading: The negotiated reading is that people can see the reason why lil pump would say him and his friends are the "gucci gang" because he wants to flex on everyone but they would also see how everyone is focusing on his money and fame but no one is wondering about all the starving kids around the suburbs in less developed countries. Oppositional reading: The oppositional reading is that lil pump uses his money to promote himself and for him to live a luxurious life whilst that money could be sent to poverty ridden countries and help people get out of poverty instead of using all of his money on clothes/cars/etc.

Bandura: Social learning theory Albert Bandura’s social learning theory came from an influential psychology study involving a bobo doll and children’s behaviour after observing violent acts.  Social learning theory suggests people learn from one another, via observation, imitation, and modeling. Stanley Cohen: moral panic Moral Panic occurs when someone or something is defined by the media as a threat to society. The term was created by Stanley Cohen. Cohen suggested in his 1972 book ‘Folk Devils and Moral Panics’ that a moral panic occurs when a “condition, episode, person or group of people emerges to become defined as a threat to societal values and interests”. Cohen suggested the media plays an important role in creating moral panic, even if just through news reports. According to  Gillian Dyer  (Advertising as Communication, 1988) advertisers use, among other techniques,  lines of appeal  to create brand identities and attract their target audience. Media companies use these images, references or suggestions to tap into our desires and make us ‘feel part’ of the brand. Dyer suggested lines of appeal could be classified into 13 groups: Happy families - everyone wants to belong  Rich, luxurious lifestyles - aspirational  Dreams and fantasy  Successful romance and love  Elite people or experts  Glamorous places  Successful careers  Art, culture & history Nature & the natural world  Beautiful women - men AND women like looking at beautiful women, so the thinking goes: men admire them, women admire what makes the men admire them.  Self-importance & pride  Comedy & humour  Childhood - can appeal to either nostalgia or to nurturing instincts  ...
